Unread lines
A passive line is a threshold on your base rank. Reaching the threshold is separate from being able to walk into the conversation.
A passive line qualifies when your base rank, floored at zero, plus six, reaches the threshold. An anti-passive line qualifies when that same sum stays under the threshold. The list keeps every line. A Read mark is stored in this browser, and it stays out of the list filters.

When does a passive line qualify?
The comparison uses the base rank only. Clothing, thought modifiers and pressure penalties stay off this sum. Zero is the floor: a negative rank counts as zero, then six is added, then the sum is compared with the threshold.
You qualify when the sum is at least the threshold. The Sensors example is that test: one base just short, one base that meets it.
When does an anti-passive line qualify?
An anti-passive line wants the skill low. You qualify when the same sum stays strictly under the threshold. The Shadowplay example is that test. Raising the base can move the sum onto the threshold and out of the line.
When the threshold is 6 or lower, every non-negative base stays at or above it, so that anti-passive line stays out of reach.
What does marking a line Read change?
The list filters are All lines, Threshold met, Threshold not met, and Other conditions. A Read mark is not one of those filters, so the line remains in whichever of them it already matched.
On a passage, Open file is the default and leaves the text visible. Need to know covers an unmarked line until you reveal it, and leaves a marked line open. My clearance opens a line when the ranks qualify, and also opens a line you have marked. Clearing the marks removes them from this browser. Qualifying still does not mean the conversation is reachable.
